Prep Roundup: Mahan strikes out 9 as Priceville tops Decatur

Mar. 28—PRICEVILLE — Bryson Mahan stepped onto the mound in the third inning Friday and turned a shootout into a shutdown as he led Priceville to a 10-7 win over Decatur. Decatur scored seven runs through the first 2 1/3 innings, but Mahan pitched a no-hitter through the final 4 2/3 innings, striking out nine batters in the process.

The game was tied 7-7 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Bulldogs scored three runs to pull away. Aiden Gates led the way for Priceville, driving in three runs on two hits and scoring two runs himself. Trevor Shannon added a hit and two RBIs, while Sawyer Mims had two hits and scored three runs.

Ben Roberts led Decatur with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Reeves Waller pitched 4 1/3 innings for the Red Raiders, allowing two hits and three runs with eight strikeouts. — Hartselle 6, Smiths Station 1: Braden Weathers hit two doubles, driving in two runs and scoring two runs to lead Hartselle to a win.

Asher Doepel added two hits and an RBI and also scored two runs. Connor Stiles got the win on the mound, allowing three hits and a run with seven strikeouts. — Lindsay Lane 15, Elkmont 6: Grayson Miller walked four times and scored five runs for Lindsay Lane in a win.

Bryson McMullin added two hits and two RBIs. Bentley Mitchell led Elkmont with a hit and an RBI. — East Limestone 9, Decatur Heritage 5: Brodie Coker had three hits and an RBI to lead East Limestone.
