Arsenal winger spotted in knee brace after international injury
Arsenal winger spotted in knee brace after international injury Noni Madueke left Wembley Stadium in a knee brace on Friday night, following a first-half injury in England’s friendly match against Uruguay. Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images Of Arsenal’s four England internationals called up for the March break, only Noni Madueke was named in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against Uruguay. Even so, the one Gunner in the lineup ended up picking up an injury before the end of the first half.
Madueke was involved in a clash with an opponent as he attempted to take a shot, and after attempting to continue he was withdrawn for West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen. Though initial reports were unclear about whether the Arsenal man had suffered a knee injury or a potential concussion, the answer became clear as Madueke was spotted leaving Wembley Stadium wearing a knee brace on his left leg. But there are certainly now concerns that Madueke could face weeks or longer out of action, at a key moment in Arsenal’s season. We’re already just a week away from Arsenal’s return to action for the FA Cup quarter-finals against Southampton, and that will be followed by vital Champions League and Premier League fixtures throughout the remainder of April. England boss Thomas Tuchel had made the decision to hold Rice and Saka back, given their high workload so far this season, giving them a rest before next week’s friendly against Japan. The pair have now arrived to join training, and the expectation is that they’ll be involved in the starting lineup for that Japan game in midweek.
