LeBron James on his assist to Bronny James for 3-pointer

There was a touching moment during the Lakers' win over the Nets on Friday when LeBron James got an assist on a made 3-pointer by his son Bronny.

With veteran guard Marcus Smart sidelined due to an ankle ailment, Bronny James has gotten onto the court for non-garbage time minutes in the Los Angeles Lakers ' last two games. On Wednesday, he played 13 minutes and had four points, one rebound, one assist, two steals and one block in a 137-130 win over the Indiana Pacers. In Friday's 116-99 victory against the Brooklyn Nets, James got four minutes of playing time and didn't make as much of a contribution, but he did hit a 3-pointer off a pass from his father, LeBron James.

The elder James was asked about the moment afterward. "Not taking it for granted, just being in the moment of us being on the floor once again," the elder James said. "Thatโ€™s two games back-to-back playing meaningful minutes and him, also, making another play.

... I got doubled, and he was able to fake the pass to the corner and then knock down the 3. Definitely a cool moment for us and also for our family.

" The 41-year-old said that his 21-year-old son is getting his shooting ability back to where it was prior to his cardiac arrest incident during the summer of 2023, when the latter was entering his lone season at the University of Southern California. "It's just getting to where it was before the incident. He's always been able to shoot the ball.
