Texas A&M is a finalist to land 2027 4-star Edge out of New Jersey
Texas A&M is one of seven finalists to land 2027 4-star Edge Aiden O'Neill out of the prestigious Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.
Texas A&M's 2026 spring season also serves as a key opportunity to host a wide range of 2027 and 2028 prospects, as third-year head coach Mike Elko and his staff are looking to land commitments from several priority prospects, including five-star cornerback John Meredith. This week, the Aggies have already hosted 2027 four-star edge Mekai Brown , while blue-chip linebacker Kaden Henderson is expected to make his way back to College Station instead of visiting Miami after receiving a prediction to commit to Texas A&M earlier this year. Overall, Elko has made significant strides with nearly every priority recruit in the 2027 cycle and is now a finalist to land another blue-chip edge rusher, as four-star Aidan O'Neil placed the Aggies in his top 7 program list, which also includes Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois.
So far, four-star Houston-based DL Kaden McCarty is the lone edge commit in the Aggies' 2027 cycle, and while O'Neil is a slight favorite to land with Notre Dame, Elko and defensive line coaches Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie are looking to secure an official visit with the standout pass rusher, who already has OVs set up with Illinois, Indiana, Penn State, and the Fighting Irish. During his 2025 junior season at the prestigious Don Bosco Prep, the New Jersey native produced 54 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 7. 5 sacks on the year.
According to 247Sports, O'Neill is the 73rd-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 9th-ranked edge, and the No. 3-ranked prospect in New Jersey.
