Tiger Woods is making headlines for all the wrong reasons once again. The 15-time major golf champion was arrested on Friday afternoon in Florida following a chaotic rollover crash that left his Land Rover mangled on its side. According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the legendary golfer is currently facing multiple non-felony charges, including driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a lawful test.

An Overtake Gone Wrong The incident took place shortly after 2:00 p. m. local time in Jupiter Island, the same Florida town where Woods lives.

Sheriff John Budensiek detailed that Woods was traveling at a “high speed” in a designated 30-mph zone when he attempted to overtake a truck hauling a pressure-washing trailer. The driver of the truck reportedly noticed Woods’ Land Rover approaching rapidly and attempted to edge off the road to make room. Unfortunately, there simply wasn’t enough space.

Woods collided with the trailer, causing his SUV to tip onto its driver’s side and scrape down the roadway for a long distance before finally coming to a stop. Amazingly, neither Woods nor the driver of the truck sustained any injuries. By the time first responders arrived at the scene, Woods, who was the only one in the car at the time, had already managed to pull himself out of the wreckage by crawling through the passenger-side door.

While Woods survived the wreck unscathed, his legal troubles were just beginning. Investigators talking with him at the crash site noted that the golfer appeared highly “lethargic” and exhibited clear signs of impairment.
