No. 10 Florida State softball takes down Clemson; opens series with win
Florida State softball had a test coming into Clemson, South Carolina. The Clemson Tigers were off a ranked run rule win, and have proved to be a tough opponent. Lineup SS – Isa Torres (JR) 3B – Jaysoni Beachum (JR) LF – Ashtyn Danley (JR) RF – Bella Ruggiero (R FR) C – Anna Hinde (FR) DP – Shelby McKenzie (SO) CF – Kennedy Harp (JR) 2B – Marin Heller (FR) 1B – Hayley Griggs (FR) RHP – Jazzy Francik (SO) Recap 1st Inning Both Jazzy Francik and Clemson starter, Sierra Maness, both went pitch for pitch through three innings.
Francik did have some traffic during her outings, but had the defense behind her to keep the game scoreless. 4th Inning Ashtyn Danley began with a lead off single against Maness. Following the hit, Bella Ruggiero added a single of her own to put two on.

With McKenzie in scoring position, a Marin Heller double made it 3-0. In the home half of the inning, Francik got the first out before loading the bases.
After a pair of singles and two walks, the Tigers occupied every base, and the Seminoles went to the bullpen. In relief, Makenna Reid gave up a sacrifice fly, making it 3-1, but kept it a two run ballgame. 7th Inning Isa Torres reached on a fielder’s choice against Maness, getting to second on a stolen base.
