Yahoo Sports

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Even with a dominant performance from junior Sage Mardjetko in the circle, the fourth-ranked Lady Vols fell 2-1 to Ole Miss on Friday night at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Tennessee (29-4, 6-4 SEC) saw Mardjetko deliver a complete game, giving up just two runs—only one of which was earned—on five hits.

The right-hander issued one walk and struck out 12 batters. Despite the effort, Mardjetko took her first loss of the season, moving to 7-1. Pitching dominated the middle innings, as Mardjetko kept the Rebels scoreless following the opening frame.

Ole Miss took the lead back in the sixth inning after a single was followed by a Tennessee throwing error. The decisive run eventually scored on a wild pitch, making it 2-1. The series continues Saturday at 2 p.
