Kentucky basketball is losing another assistant coach this offseason
The Kentucky Wildcats are set to lose another assistant coach, as Alvin Brooks III is expected to head elsewhere.
Just a few days after Kentucky Wildcats assistant coach Jason Hart accepted a position at SMU, leaving the Wildcats, Alvin Brooks III is reportedly following suit. As reported by Kentucky Sports Radio , Brooks is expected to leave the program amid changes with the basketball program. Brooks came to Kentucky to join Pope's staff after a long stint at Baylor.
He and Hart were both considered to be terrific hires who would aid in the Wildcats transition at head coach and bring in top players. In the two seasons the staff has been in place, things haven't gone as planned. Kentucky has struggled to get recruits, and haven't managed to be serious contenders in the SEC or in NCAA Tournament.
That includes a blowout loss to Iowa State this year. Brooks will have no shortage of suitors this offseason, and will likely land quickly. As for Kentucky, Pope will be looking for replacements as he heads into a pivotal third season at the helm.
He needs wins, and he needs some quality assistant coaches to help him get there. We'll update things as they change on that front. This article originally appeared on UK Wildcats Wire: Kentucky basketball coach Alvin Brooks III set to leave program
