Eagles' Jalen Carter Gets Contract Update Amid Uncertain Situation

Yahoo Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have done a great job building a roster, and youngster Jalen Carter is a big part of that on the defensive side of the football. While there’s been plenty of talk about when the Eagles might lock up their young star, the latest update suggests that it might not be coming soon. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, a contract extension for Carter isn’t something he’s heard of right now.

“I haven’t heard about Jalen Hurts being extended and Jalen Carter, I think they’re going to want to get to that,” Schefter said . “I think that’s going to be a down-the-line situation. Don’t think that that’s anytime soon.

I think that there are some other defensive linemen out there in the NFL that have to be paid. Probably Jalen Carter is going to wait and see some of these deals. ” The market continues to evolve, and elite players are resetting the price tag every offseason.

For Carter, who has shown that he’s one of the best in the world, waiting could actually be a good thing. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report thought Carter would reset the market a few weeks ago and expected Howie Roseman to get a deal done. “In three seasons, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has established himself as one of the game’s most disruptive defenders,” Knox wrote.

“The two-time Pro Bowler hasn’t even turned 25 yet, either. Expect the Eagles to lock up Carter early. General manager Howie Roseman has a long history of negotiating early extensions, and Carter figures to be a centerpiece player in the mold of Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, and Cam Jurgens.
