Tiger Woods Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI After Crashing In Florida
Tiger Woods has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing his Land Rover on Friday. According to 2 News Nevada , officials said Woods was driving at a “high speed” on a residential road in Jupiter Island, Florida, when his car clipped a truck and rolled over. m. on Friday as he was driving on Jupiter Island, near where he lives. The iconic athlete was driving on a two-lane road, where the speed limit is 30 mph, when the crash happened.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods was trying to pass a truck on the two-lane road when he clipped the back of the truck’s trailer and rolled over. According to 2 News Nevada, Budensiek said Woods was able to exit the car through the passenger side after the crash, and he was not injured. “He did exemplify signs of an impairment,” Budensiek said, adding that Woods may have taken “some type of medication or drug.
” The 50-year-old golfer took a breathalyzer test, and he didn’t show signs of alcohol, but he was arrested after declining a urine test, Budensiek said, per 2 News Nevada. The sheriff said Woods was cooperative and he can decline the urine test, but authorities “will never get definitive results with what he was impaired on. ” According to Florida law, Woods is required to spend eight hours in jail before he is eligible for bail.
However, he will be separated from other inmates due to his high-profile status. “He’s not going to be with other inmates that could hurt him or try to capitalize on what he did,” Budensiek said. “He’ll pay the price, but he’s not going to pay the price by getting punished in jail.
