It will not be the only loss the Mariners accrue this year, but hopefully it’ll be the last one for a while.

To repeat yesterday’s introductory material for new readers, in addition to our analysis and commentary, Lookout Landing will feature a daily trio(+) of stories about each game: (1) a game preview with starting lineups and all the info you need to know pregame, which will also serve as a comment thread to discuss the game as it unfolds, (2) a chart highlighting the turning points of the game published immediately postgame, and (3) a recap of how the game went down. We’ll do this for all 162 games this season, and we’d love to have you along for the ride, so if you haven’t yet signed up, please consider doing so! Instructions for doing so are at the bottom of the page.

I’ll also repeat the summary of the work we’ve put up over the past couple days in preparation for Opening Day: The 2026 Opening Day Roster Our guide to T-Mobile Park An overview of the food options available at the park this season Season Projections and Predictions The Opening Series Preview Two opposing visions for the season: If It All Goes Wrong and If It All Goes Right Lineups! Same lineup as last night, but with George Kirby toeing the rubber. Kirby’s looking to bounce back from an up-and-down 2025 season that started late due to a shoulder injury.

To facilitate the substitution of CJ Kayfus for Daniel Schneemann, the Guardians will move Steven Kwan to center field. Maybe he’ll get a better view of the strike zone from there and can learn about its boundaries so he doesn’t make another boneheaded ABS challenge tonight. Injury Update Carlos Vargas was placed on the Injured List with a lat strain earlier today.
