Former Patriots defensive back Logan Ryan believes the team made the right move in signing wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

Former New England Patriots defensive back Logan Ryan offered his take on the team's decision to sign wide receiver Romeo Doubs in free agency. Ryan shared the field with Doubs while playing with the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. It was the two-time Super Bowl champion's final year in the NFL.

The 49ers ultimately won the game by a 24-21 margin, but Doubs made an impression with four catches for 83 yards in the matchup. โ€œOut of all the Packers receivers, we felt he was the most dangerous 1-on-1,โ€ Ryan said, via MassLiveโ€™s Karen Guregian . โ€œI just think heโ€™s a really good player in that cluster of (free agent) wide receivers that were available.

โ€œI think Doubs is going to ascend into that No. 1 role because heโ€™s a really good route-runner, heโ€™s really crafty and he has really good hands. โ€ The Patriots signed Doubs with the thought of replacing four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who was released at the start of the new league year.

It's a move that gives the team another young offensive playmaker with tremendous upside. Doubs finished his final season with the Packers with 55 catches for 724 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots are likely still looking to add a wideout, either through free agency or the 2026 NFL Draft.
