Michigan, the No. 1 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA men’s ice hockey tournament, cruised to a 5-1 victory over Bentley on Friday to advance to the regional final in Albany, New York. The Wolverines got goals from five skaters, with TJ Hughes’ goal about 10 minutes in proving to be the winner.
Michigan also got goals from Garrett Schifsky, Ben Robertson, Nick Moldenhauer and Kason Muscutt. In net, freshman Jack Ivankovic pitched a shutout until the final minute, stopping all 24 Bentley shots he faced until he gave up a goal with around 27 seconds to play. Michigan is set to face the winner of the game between the No.
2 and No. 3 seeds in the Albany region — Minnesota-Duluth and Penn State, respectively — on Sunday in a regional final. A victory on Sunday would send Michigan to the Frozen Four.
