Brumlow makes cut, Hamilton Coleman just misses in Club Car Championship

U.S. Junior Amateur champion Hamilton Coleman just missed the cut, but his playing partner Buck Brumlow will play this weekend in Club Car Championship.

Buck Brumlow, a former standout golfer at the University of Georgia, first met Hamilton Coleman when the talented senior from Lakeside-Evans High came to Athens on a college recruiting trip. Coleman, the reigning U. S.

Junior Amateur champion, and Brumlow received exemptions to play in the ninth annual Club Car Championship and were paired together for the first two rounds. They were tied coming into Friday's second round after shooting 4-under par 68s on Thursday on the Deer Creek Course at the Landings Golf & Athletic Club. Brumlow, who won a GHSA State title at Cartersville High, was able to keep the momentum rolling as the 23-year old carded a 70 Friday to make the cut in a tie for 45th to compete on the weekend.

Coleman, who has signed to play at UGA, was right at the cut line at the end of is round, but missed it with a one-over par 73 on Friday. The pair, who played in a threesome with Petr Hruby, started their second round on the back nine and closed things out on the par-4 ninth hole. On the ninth, Coleman made a putt of about eight feet to save his par and then shared a moment with Brumlow on the back of the green.

"I have a little brother (Bodie Brumlow) who is a year behind Hamilton and is going to play with him at Georgia," Buck Brumlow said. "They are going to be teammates, but Hamilton is a great golfer and he played phenomenal the last two days. Things didn't go his way today, but he's a great kid.
