Bucky McMillan had a successful first year with the Texas A&M Aggies and is set to sign a contract extension.
The Texas A&M Aggies and head basketball coach Bucky McMillan are "finalizing" a contract extension, according to Billy Lucci of TexAgs . The deal will reportedly include a "market adjustment" to his salary. McMillan is coming off a successful first year in charge of the Aggies, leading them to a 22-12 record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
He signed a five-year deal with Texas A&M ahead of the 2025-26 season after they hired him away from Samford. Despite being hired late in the cycle, he was able to build a roster that was able to play his style of basketball after signing 10 transfers. "Bucky Ball" consists of using full-court pressure, a fast tempo, and plenty of three-point attempts.
They finished 4th in the SEC in 3-point percentage (35. 9) and second in opponent 3-point percentage (31. 8%).
They also led the conference in opponent turnovers with 459. McMillan had a successful five-year tenure at Samford before coming to College Station. He went 99-52, winning 21 or more games in each of the final four seasons and making the NCAA Tournament once.
