It's a bit of a bummer for Groulx to be sent down from the NHL level, but it's not crucial to the Leafs. They don't have much else to play for. Regardless, the news is this: Groulx was sent down to the AHL's Toronto Marlies on Friday.

With nine games at the NHL level, he could be sent directly down to the AHL without clearing waivers. If Groulx reached 10 NHL games, he'd have to clear waivers to go back down, and the Leafs didn't want to risk that. They want to allow Groulx to play in the AHL playoffs with the Marlies, so this was the safest way to do that.
