"I want to wish my Spartans the best of luck as they take on UConn in the NCAA Tournament today! I’ll be watching from Dodgers Stadium!"
A well-known Spartans alum and former basketball player wished Michigan State good luck in its Sweet 16 matchup against UConn on Friday night. Michigan State legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson took to social media platform X to wish the Spartans good luck in their Sweet 16 battle against UConn on Friday. Per a post from Johnson, he will be watching the Spartans from Dodgers Stadium tonight -- Johnson is a partial team owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who opened their 2026 season earlier this week.

So this comment from Johnson ahead of Friday night's game shouldn't come as any surprise, but still fun to see him following Michigan State's run in March after he led the Spartans to a national championship nearly 50 years ago. Tipoff between Michigan State and UConn is scheduled for approximately 9:45 p. m.
ET on Friday. The game will be televised on CBS. Stay with Spartans Wire for all of your pregame, in-game and postgame content updates surrounding the Spartans-Huskies Sweet 16 matchup.
