Kemp, Paulson voted Kitsap Sun athletes of the week for March 16-21

The Klahowya baseball player and Central Kitsap softball player had impressive performances last week.

Klahowya baseball player Garrett Kemp and Central Kitsap softball player Savvy Pauslon are the Kitsap Sun athletes of the week for March 16-21, selected by readers in an online poll . Athletes are nominated by their respective coaches, and the top vote-getters for both boys and girls are declared the winners. Kemp finished 4-for-6 with three home runs, including a grand slam/game-winner across two games.

He also picked up a complete-game pitching win against Kingston, allowing one hit with six strikeouts. He collected 270 votes. Other nominees in boys sports were North Kitsap's Evan Williams (128), Bainbridge's Eli Dugan (97), North Kitsap's Owen Leslie (95), Central Kitsap's Hunter Wheeler (71), North Mason's Danner Jones (48) and North Kitsap's Nick Watson (7).

Paulson earned a win against Lakes, allowing no hits with 10 strikeouts through 4 1/3 innings. She also collected two hits with 5 RBI, 3 runs and three walks. She collected 265 votes.

Other nominees in girls sports were North Kitsap's Charizma Fake (138), North Mason's Brylie Biehl (112), Olympic's Evee Abbay (110) and Bainbridge's Cate Torrell (36).
