Indy’s newest destination to watch women’s sports has a home. Incoming sports bar The Sports Bra — a Portland, Oregon-based eatery known for showing exclusively women’s sports on its TVs — will open soon at 15 E. Maryland St.

in downtown Indianapolis. Last June, The Sports Bra announced five expansion sites including Indianapolis : a city the burgeoning brand targeted largely thanks to its passionate Indiana Fever fanbase. The bar has not yet announced an opening date.

The Indianapolis bar will take residence in the old Steak and Shake Headquarters at the corner of Maryland and Pennsylvania streets. Eve Keller, one of the new location’s co-owners, said the owners chose the Maryland Street building for its proximity to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and spot in the heart of downtown. “Women’s sports deserve to live in the same geography as everything else we celebrate — right in the flow of the city’s energy,” Keller said in a news release.

“Whether it’s a solo fan making new connections or a dad bringing his daughter to watch a championship game, this space is built for community and belonging. ” In addition to Indianapolis, The Sports Bra plans new locations in Boston, Las Vegas and St. Louis to join the original Portland spot and form the brand’s “starting five.
