And while the sport is still in good hands with players like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff leading the way, there’s always a bit of sadness when another familiar face leaves the stage. Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have all stepped away from the game.
The latest player may not have quite the same career as these icons but has enjoyed wins over Federer and Nadal during his career. That player is David Goffin, who has today announced his retirement from tennis. The emotions. The people who were there through all of it. “And that’s why this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life.
” The video ended simply, with a message on screen: “This will be my last season. Join me on this journey. ” David Goffin retires from tennis after 17-year career Goffin’s decision brings to a close a career that included six ATP titles and a climb to world number seven.
