Sleeper cornerback named ideal fit for Dolphins in 2026 NFL draft
The Dolphins have added a few cornerbacks this offseason, but they could use more help. There's an intriguing option on Day 2 who could be a good fit.
This offseason, at cornerback alone, the Miami Dolphins have allowed Kader Kohou ( signed with the Kansas City Chiefs ), Rasul Douglas, Jack Jones, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Artie Burns and Kendall Sheffield to hit the market, leaving their room rather thin. To address that issue, Miami has already signed Darrell Baker, Alex Austin and Marco Wilson in free agency. However, they should still be looking for more help in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft.
This week, ESPN's Matt Miller identified Florida's Devin Moore as a possible Day-2 cornerback that the Dolphins could take, especially if they choose to target other positions in the first two rounds. "The Dolphins are loaded with seven selections in the top 100 picks, but landing Moore late in Round 3 would offer an immediate boost to the secondary," Miller wrote. "At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, he has the size and length to be a factor in the press-man scheme new coach Jeff Hafley will employ.
" Moore was a four-star recruit out of Naples High School in Naples, Florida, before flipping his commitment from Notre Dame to the University of Florida before graduating in 2021. In his four seasons with the Gators, Moore played in just 30 games due to injuries, but he recorded 64 tackles, nine passes defensed, five interceptions, one sack and a forced fumble. Most Dolphins fans are probably hoping that the team uses one of their two first-round picks on a cornerback.
However, with so many holes, they could take the best player available early and still find a solid contributor on Day 2. It's also not out of the realm of possibility that Miami takes multiple cornerbacks in this draft, especially considering that their offseason additions at the position were one-year deals.
