Speaking on his podcast Snap Count , Batch indicated that while mutual interest appears to exist between Rodgers and the Steelers, the two sides may be significantly apart in terms of salary expectations.
โThe Steelers would like him to come back, yes, but itโs not going to be at that $13 million number,โ Batch said. โIโm sure his representatives are wanting something closer to $30 million, and you hope that, somewhere, you meet in the middle. โ Batch clarified that his comments were speculative and not based on direct communication with Rodgers.
Rodgers, who is entering his age-42 season, is coming off a productive year in which he threw for 24 touchdowns against seven interceptions, helping lead Pittsburgh to an AFC North division title. Despite those results, his relatively modest salary placed him 22nd among NFL quarterbacks last season, potentially fueling the current contract dispute. As negotiations remain unresolved, Rodgersโ future with the Steelers is uncertain.
Whether the two sides can bridge the reported financial gap may ultimately determine if the veteran quarterback returns for another season. Let us know what you think in the comments . Be sure to bookmark Behind the Steel Curtain for all the latest news, breakdowns, and more!
