The 25-year-old left-arm bowler has played 96 limited-overs internationals and has experience of English cricket having played for Nottinghamshire and Manchester Originals in 2024. He will feature in the Glamorgan squad alongside Australian all-rounder Nathan McAndrew and South African batter Colin Ingram, though only two can play in any match.
Farooqi has also had spells with Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, and Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash, but his contract in Australia was ended early for off-field reasons. "It's a busy time [during the Blast] because we've got two four-day matches in between," Glamorgan coach Richard Dawson told BBC Sport Wales. Glamorgan sign Australian fast bowler Hadley Glamorgan hail 'superb role model' as Harris retires Debt-free Glamorgan 'transformed' by Fire sale "Nathan McAndrew has come for T20 and those two four-dayers which gives us back-up for the bowlers, then Farooqi gives us options with Colin still here as well.
"The T20 fixture list is pretty tough [with back-to-back fixtures] so it's touch and go whether fast bowlers can play every game. "It's not just for that tournament, it's the impact it has down the line later in the season, so we're trying to look after the bowling unit and how we manage that group. " New South Wales paceman Ryan Hadley will be in action alongside Ingram for the opening six Championship matches in April and May.
Glamorgan announced his signing after Dawson saw him in action for Australia A against England Lions in Brisbane in December. "He hit the deck hard and bowled a good pace, I watched a lot of his footage for New South Wales this year and he got highly recommended, so he's keen to come and make an impact for Glamorgan," Dawson said. Glamorgan's first Championship fixture back in Division One is at home to Yorkshire starting on Friday, 3 April.
