The Los Angeles Dodgers sold naming rights to the field at their own historic venue this offseason. Dodger Stadium is the third-oldest ballpark in baseball, and the Dodgers sold naming rights to their playing surface to Uniqlo, a Japanese clothing brand. The new name of their field is now Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium.

When asked if the Red Sox would ever do something similar, Kennedy kept the door open . โ€œWell, we are always looking for ways to generate more revenue. We donโ€™t hide behind that,โ€ Kennedy said during batting practice at Great American Ball Park on Thursday, per The Boston Globe's Tim Healey.

โ€œAnd the idea of that is to generate more revenue so you can put it back into the team. But as of now, weโ€™ve not explored that. โ€ The Red Sox have not explored selling naming rights to the field yet, but they have put ads on the grass.

Selling naming rights to the field is a big next step, but as of now, the Red Sox are not trying to do that. The Dodgers' extravagant spending habits have been all the talk in baseball over the last few years. Well, making moves like the move to sell naming rights to Uniqlo helps fund that spending.
