Scouting Future Saints: Penn State running back Kaytron Allen
Penn State bruiser and all-time leading rusher Kaytron Allen has the potential to be an NFL draft steal. Here's what he offers the New Orleans Saints.
Running back got a major addition for the New Orleans Saints when they signed Travis Etienne early in free agency. Etienne is expected to team with Alvin Kamara to give the Saints a potentially lethal 1-2 backfield punch. However, a New Orleans running game that ranked near the bottom of the league in 2025 may not be done adding to the position.
Etienne's signing might take Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love out of first round consideration. However, adding a back like Penn State Nittany Lions star Kaytron Allen in a later round could be possible. Allen was part of a tremendously productive 1-2 punch with Nick Singleton at Penn State.
Both are expected to be Day 2 or early Day 3 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. Either would give the Saints a possible draft steal and further bolster the youth and production of their running backs.
