Canaseraga, GV, Waverly, Norwich students shine at NY archery tournament
Canaseraga won the middle and elementary school divisions, with individual winners from Norwich, Waverly and Genesee Valley.
Nearly 560 students from 43 schools participated in the stateโs National Archery in the Schools Program tournament. The event, hosted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, took place March 13 at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Students competed in three divisions: high school, middle school and elementary school, according to a community announcement.
Joseph Towndrow, from Norwich High School, was the top overall male archer, scoring 284 points. Savanna Mahoney, from St. Joseph by the Sea, was the top overall female archer, with a score of 282.
Both received a New York Champion Genesis bow. St. Joseph by the Sea took first place in the high school division, while Canaseraga Central School won the middle and elementary school divisions.
Awards were given to the top 10 individuals in each division. Those students qualify to represent New York at the National NASP Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky in May. Individual winners High School female: Savanna Mahoney, 282, St.
