They accomplished their goal and brought him back on a $150 million contract over the next five years. Schwarber's first at-bat since signing that massive extension for the Phillies came on Opening Day against the Texas Rangers and star pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. Schwarber launched a pitch into the stands in left field for an Opening Day homer.

That Opening Day homer for Schwarber made for a very interesting coincidence, and one that could bode well for the Phillies. As Jayson Stark of The Athletic shared, this is not the first Opening Day homer for Schwarber after signing with the Phillies in free agency.
