Giants' Jameis Winston gets laughs with crab legs joke during MLB opening day
New York Giants QB Jameis Winston poked fun at himself with a crab legs joke during Netflix's MLB Opening Day coverage.
New York Giants fans tuning into Netflix's 2026 MLB Opening Night broadcast got an unexpected treat from their own quarterback, Jameis Winston. While the San Francisco Giants prepared to host the New York Yankees at Oracle Park, Winston appeared live from the Crazy Crab stand on the concourse, delivering commentary and a side of shellfish humor that had Big Blue Nation chuckling. Host Elle Duncan could not resist poking the bearโor the crabโby asking the former Heisman winner point-blank if he had paid for his crab legs.
Without missing a beat, Winston leaned into the joke. "Jameis, did you pay for the crab legs? " ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ Protect @Jaboowins at all costs ๐ @MLB #OpeningNight is LIVE now on Netflix!

"But a trusted source told me that ever since Barry Bonds retired from the San Francisco Giants, sales have skyrocketed due to the decrease of baseball-related crab deaths. " Winston capped it off with a knowing grin: "My history with crab legs, y'all may know. " The playful jab was a nod to Winstonโs well-known 2014 college incident at Florida State, where he received a civil citation after allegedly taking crab legs and crawfish from a Publix without paying.
