Giants urged to draft guard who is 'tougher and nastier' than Cam Skattebo
The New York Giants are being urged to draft a mid-round guard who is "tougher and nastier" than Cam Skattebo.
How high is guard on the New York Giants ' list of needs this offseason? The Giants lost their leading wide receiver from last season, Wan'Dale Robinson, to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. Without their 1,000-yard receiver, the Giants have an opening to add another top talent at the position.
Adding another defensive tackle next to former two-time second-team All-Pro Dexter Lawrence is also a clear area of need. But ESPN’s Matt Miller believes the Giants have an opportunity to address their need at guard with Georgia Tech right guard Keylan Rutledge in the 2026 NFL draft. Keylan Rutledge, G, Georgia Tech.
Protecting Jaxson Dart and opening holes for Cam Skattebo is paramount to the Giants' draft plans. Rutledge might be the only prospect tougher and nastier than Skattebo. He's an elite run-game blocker and has upside in pass protection, making him a fixture at right or left guard.
Rutledge did not allow a single sack in 2025. He also allowed only five total pressures last season. Pro Football Focus highly praised Rutledge for his run blocking.
