The Mariners then ousted the Tigers in the ALDS before falling to the Blue Jays in a heartbreaking ALCS Game 7. While a new season is a blank slate, both teams have plenty of confidence entering 2026.
This season is virtually guaranteed to get off to a better start than last for George Kirby, who will get the ball for the Mariners on Friday. The right-hander didn't make his 2025 debut until late May due to shoulder issues, then got shelled in his first two outings before setting into a groove and pitching well down the stretch.
