Ohio State DT James Smith talks transfer from Alabama, OSU differences

Yahoo Sports

Ohio State defensive tackle James Smith met with the media to discuss his rationale for transferring from Alabama, OSU culture, and more.

Ohio State is in the midst of its spring football practice, and that means we're not only getting a look at some of the new players on the team, but we're also hearing from them from time to time. That was the case on Thursday when Alabama transfer James Smith met with reporters to field some questions and get to know the Buckeye Beat. Smith has just one year of eligibility left, and he's hoping a fresh start on the banks of the Olentangy will be just what he needs to improve his NFL draft stock, so he's quickly working on acclimating himself to the culture at OSU.

Smith touched on several topics based on questions from the media, including the differences between Ohio State and Alabama, how much he leaned on Caleb Downs in making the decision to transfer to the Buckeyes , what he believes his role will be on the defense, and more. You can get up to speed and meet Smith thanks to the Bucknuts 247Sports YouTube channel. We'll continue to bring you all the sights and sounds from Ohio State football spring practice as we make our way towards the annual spring game set for Saturday, April 18.
