Kevin Huerter, Jalen Duren lead Pistons to blowout win vs. Pelicans
Kevin Huerter had his best game of the season, which led to him leading Pistons to blowout win vs. the New Orleans Pelicans.
Detroit — When the Detroit Pistons acquired Kevin Huerter in a trade with the Chicago Bulls, Coach J. B. Bickerstaff was very transparent with him about the limited playing time he would receive on the team.
This conversation was not due to a lack of faith in Huerter's abilities to contribute to the team's success, but rather stemmed from the number of players Bickerstaff already had in his rotation. On Thursday night, Huerter played a crucial role in leading the Pistons to a decisive 129-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at Little Caesars Arena. He scored 22 points, shooting 9 of 14, which included four made 3-point field goals.
He played 34 minutes as a starter while Duncan Robinson was sidelined due to a wrist injury. Jalen Duren fell three assists shy of his first career triple-double, recording 30 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Daniss Jenkins added 19 points and nine assists.
Zion Williamson led New Orleans with 21 points and six rebounds. Former Pistons Saddiq Bey finished with 17 points. coty.
