Louisville basketball staffer Brian Kloman leaving program for Auburn
Brian Kloman, Pat Kelsey's longest-tenured staffer who held a GM-like role during the 2025-26 season, is leaving Louisville basketball. What to know:
A few months after he followed Pat Kelsey to Louisville basketball , Brian Kloman compared the Cardinals to a Ferrari. "You better get in," he told The Courier Journal in July 2024. "And you better drive fast.
" Less than two years later, Kloman it turning in his keys. Kelsey's longest-tenured staff member, UofL's executive director of player personnel and strategic initiatives , is leaving for a similar position under coach Steven Pearl at Auburn , he confirmed to The Courier Journal. Kloman and Kelsey spent 12 seasons together, compiling a record of 278-111.
Roughly two months before the 2025-26 campaign tipped off, he was promoted from assistant/defensive coordinator to his now-former position. "I trust him implicitly in every piece of our organization," Kelsey told reporters at ACC Tipoff last October. In that general manager-like role, according to a news release, Kloman focused on "recruiting, roster construction and cap management" in addition to "positioning Louisville at the forefront of the sport's rapidly changing dynamics and navigating the complexities of modern college athletics.
" "It's become a version of professional sports," Kelsey said during ACC Tipoff. "So having somebody like that, who is so in tune to all of those pieces that go into building a successful organization for today's college basketball ... Brian's the perfect fit for it, and he's doing a bang-up job.
