If Neuer opts to hang up his gloves, Jonas Urbig is expected to be named FC Bayern's new No. 1 goalkeeper.
In that scenario, Bayern could look to bring in an experienced backup for Urbig, with Hoffenheim and Germany goalkeeper Oliver Baumann identified as an option, according to Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast. Baumann, 35, has previously considered joining Bayern as a second-choice goalkeeper. Whether he would still be open to such a move –particularly given his current prominent role in the German national team – is unclear.
His contract with Hoffenheim runs until the summer of 2028.
