Ex Falcons LB DeAngelo Malone heads to Tampa Bay for free-agent visit with Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have their eyes on former Atlanta Falcons linebacker DeAngelo Malone. According to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , the Buccaneers will host Malone for a free-agent visit on Thursday. "Free agent linebacker DeAngelo Malone is visiting the Buccaneers today, per source," Fowler wrote on social media.
"Former third-round pick by Atlanta has linebacker depth and special teams value. " Malone, 26, was selected with one of Atlanta's two third-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, along with former Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder. Over his four seasons in Atlanta, Malone appeared in 58 games and primarily contributed on special teams.
The former Western Kentucky standout recorded 59 tackles (32 solo), three sacks, seven tackles for loss and one interception. Last season, Malone appeared in just nine games before going on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury. The Falcons have added three veteran edge defenders in free agency, including Samson Ebukam and Azeez Ojulari.
