The Zionsville boys volleyball team wanted to pick up whatever momentum they could heading into spring break next week. With the boys volleyball season being more condensed than a lot of sports, the games and challenges will be coming at the Eagles rapidly when they return from break. So Tuesday night's 3-1 (25-18, 25-9, 20-25, 25-18) win over Noblesville was just what the Eagles wanted, improving to 5-1 on the year heading into a break of 13 days.
"It's the hardest part of the boys season, you have spring break with an already short season," Zionsville head coach Tyler Beeman said. "We come back with some big games with Brebeuf and Roncalli and then Avon, where we will get one practice and then four games back to back. Today was one of those days where we gave everyone some playing time, just trying to have some fun before break.
" It was the second long night in a row for the Eagles, who defeated North Central 3-2 in a back-and-forth match on Tuesday night. Beeman said that through these opening games, the Eagles are showing they have a lot of depth and have players that aren't afraid to step up in big moments. "We proved a little bit of a point that we have a pretty deep roster," Beeman said.
"We were able to play some kids that have never played varsity before, and they were able to dig deep and get some big wins. It was point-for-point, but never once did I feel like we weren't going to win that. " The Eagles are going off a sectional championship a year ago, a season where they won 24 matches.
