Rich Janzaruk/Herald-Times / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images One of Indiana’s top additions in the transfer portal just found out the hard way that head coach Curt Cignetti wants his player to bring a humble approach to practice and game days. After a couple of months’ worth of celebrating the first National Championship in program history, Cignetti and the Hoosiers have begun their spring build toward the 2026 college football season. Indiana is expected to be a playoff contender again this year, and it’s partly because of a strong transfer portal class this year.

Two of the notable players the school landed in the portal are former TCU starting quarterback Josh Hoover and talented Michigan State wide receiver Nick Marsh. The pair were brought in to fill the massive void left by Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza and star pass catcher Omar Cooper, Jr. It seems that Marsh is well aware of the high expectations for the defending champions and looked to meet them with confidence by wearing gold cleats to practice on Thursday.

Well, that wasn’t well-received by his new head coach. Not one bit. Indiana transfer gets chewed out by Curt Cignetti at spring practice Hilarious: Indiana HC Curt Cignetti went OFF on wide receiver Nick Marsh for wearing gold cleats to spring practice.

"He learned what getting your ass ripped is all about. I don't know if that happened to him very often at Michigan State. " 💀💀💀 pic.
