New Dolphins lineman explains what drove him to sign with Miami

The Miami Dolphins have brought in several free agents this offseason, and many of them are probably thinking the same way.

The Miami Dolphins have added several players to their roster this offseason through free agency, including a few who might end up starting for them when the 2026 season kicks off in September. Among those that Miami signed is offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer, who joined the Dolphins after spending the last four years with the Los Angeles Chargers. Speaking to the media for the first time since signing, Salyer explained why he chose the Dolphins.

"I think just looking at everything, and the opportunities that I had, this place seemed like a breeding ground for competition and opportunity, so that's what kind of drew me here," Salyer said. "I think it's exciting. They have a number of different openings, so I'm excited to just be able to go compete.

That's really what I told my agent. That's what I told coach [Jeff Hafley] when I got a chance to talk to him. I'm just excited for the opportunity to do that.

" Salyer appeared in 64 games and started 40 during his time with the Chargers. He took snaps at every position along the line besides center, but with Miami needing guard help in 2026, he'll likely slide in at one of the guard spots this year. Right now, the Dolphins have a clear opening on the right side, where Salyer has the most experience, but there's also a chance that they look for someone to replace Jonah Savaiinaea on the left side.
