The overall purse at Whirlwind Golf Club in Phoenix is $2.25 million with the winner earning $337,500 for her victory

Prepping for major championship season isn’t exclusively reserved for the men’s pro game. With the Chevron Championship just a month away, the LPGA’s top stars are looking to get in some reps over the next few weeks. So it is that 22 of the top 25 players in the latest Rolex Women’s World Ranking are in the field at this week’s Ford Championship in Phoenix.

Returning to the Cattail Course at Whiteline Golf Club, Hyo Joo Kim looks to defend her title, having beaten Lilia Vu with a birdie on the first playoff hole a year ago. Also playing this week is Nelly Korda, who won the inaugural Ford Championship in 2024. Joining Kim and Korda are not only several top ranked stars—Jenno Thitkul, Charley Hull, Lydia Ko among others—but also Nelly’s older sister Jessica (playing for the first time since May 2023 while recovering from injuries and becoming a mom in 2024).

Also notable are the two sponsor’s exemptions into the event: nascent tour pro Carla Bernat Escuder, last year’s Augusta National Women’s Amateur champ) and standout amateur Asterisk Talley (runner-up at the ANWA and the top-ranked junior golfer in the world). If last year’s event is any barometer, expect to see low scores. Kim and Vu finished the event at 22-under 266.

The overall purse in Arizona is $2. 25 million with the winner earning $337,500. Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer who makes the cut in the desert.
