Georgia football deputy athletic director leaves for Falcons' role
Georgia's deputy athletic director was hired by Georgia in October 2023 and was excellent in his role with the Bulldogs.
Georgia Bulldogs’ deputy athletic director and chief marketing officer Steven Drummond has resigned from his position to work with the Atlanta Falcons. Drummond was widely regarded as a top staffer in all of college football, and he will remain in Georgia despite leaving his role in Athens. The news comes after Georgia hosted their annual pro day, as Drummond’s resignation came as a surprise to many around the college football world.
Drummond will reportedly be working very closely with former Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan in Atlanta’s front office, as the former Georgia deputy athletic director has seen his time in Athens come to an end following two and a half excellent seasons with the Bulldogs. Drummond has served various roles as a senior administrator throughout his time at Georgia. Drummond was hired by the University of Georgia in October of 2023, where he managed and developed partnerships with brands, donors, and NIL platforms in order to create opportunities for student-athletes.
The former Bulldogs’ deputy athletic director has prior experience working in the NFL, as Drummond originally got his start with the Jacksonville Jaguars as their communications coordinator. Drummond would then move on to work with the Carolina Panthers in a variety of roles, where he eventually was able to work his way up to the vice president of football operations role prior to taking the job at Georgia. Drummond was an excellent deputy athletic director throughout his time with the Bulldogs.
He has experienced a plethora of different roles at both the college and NFL level, and Drummond will now be headed to Atlanta to work with legendary quarterback Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons had a major presence at Georgia's pro day and it is possible Atlanta connected with Drummond there.
