A note from Prince William was among the outpouring of support Lindsey Vonn received after her Olympics skiing crash.

Lindsey Vonn has a fan in the future King of England. Vonn told Vanity Fair that Prince William was among the many people who reached out to offer support after her horrific crash during the downhill at the Milano Cortina Olympics. She said she also received letters from Tom Brady, David Beckham and four-time major tennis champion Jannik Sinner.

"The way you wrote about stepping into the starting gate with courage and no regrets says so much about your resilience,โ€ Prince William said in his letter to Vonn. The most meaningful note Vonn received was from broadcaster Diane Sawyer, who told her, "You canโ€™t have courage and comfort at the same time. " Vonn is recuperating from the crash in which she suffered a complex tibial fracture in her left leg , a tibial plateau fracture and fractured fibular head.

She also broke her right ankle. But the biggest threat to her health was that she developed compartment syndrome . Excessive pressure building up inside a muscle, either from bleeding or swelling, causes compartment syndrome.

The pressure restricts blood flow and can lead to permanent injury, including amputation, if not treated quickly. Vonn's longtime orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Tom Hackett, was in Italy and performed a fasciotomy to alleviate the pressure and save her leg .
