The New England Patriots are one of the teams across the NFL this offseason that is fortunate to know they have their quarterback of the future in place already, as Drake Maye is fresh off leading the team to Super Bowl LX.

One of his predecessors, Tom Brady, has found himself in the news quite a bit as of late. While he hasn't played in the NFL since 2022, Brady has publicly flirted with unretirement in the past, and unsurprisingly, rumors have begun to flare up again in the wake of his performance at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. When discussing the subject, Brady admitted he actually explored a potential comeback attempt , only to be shot down by the NFL.

โ€œI actually have inquired, and they donโ€™t like that idea very much,โ€ Brady said, per Alex Sherman of CNBC Sport. โ€œWe explored a lot of different things, and Iโ€™m very happily retired. Let me just say that, too.

โ€ Brady's involvement with the Las Vegas Raiders as a minority owner is the primary roadblock preventing a potential comeback, and it doesn't seem like he's willing to move on from that role in an effort to return to the NFL. Even at 48 years old, though, Brady proved he can still sling the football, and given his pedigree of success, teams would obviously flock to him if he were to unretire. That doesn't sound like something the league has to worry about, though.
