Should the Patriots consider bringing back veteran linebacker Kyle Van Noy for the 2026 season?

The New England Patriots have one of their former Super Bowl champions, Kyle Van Noy, as an option to consider in free agency. The initial free agency frenzy has fizzled out after the NFLโ€™s negotiating window opened on March 9. The Patriots have made quality signings this offseason, including wide receiver Romeo Doubs, defensive end Dreโ€™Mont Jones, safety Kevin Byard and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

New England addressed many areas of need in the open market. A reunion with Van Noy is an additional move for New England to weigh, providing support for their existing linebacker unit. It was just in 2024 when Van Noy went for 12.

5 sacks, a career-high for the veteran pass rusher. Last season, the BYU product recorded his first interception since 2021, finishing the year with one pick. He also registered nine quarterback hits in 2025 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

Another edge rusher that is accustomed to playing at both defensive end, as well as outside linebacker, is fitting for the Patriots this spring. Van Noy last signed a two-year, $9 million deal with the Ravens in 2024, making it feasible for the Patriots to strike a deal with him for less than the $4. 5 million average annual salary from his last contract.
