In an interview with The Insiders podcast, Nussmeier said that the Rams are flying “into town” to meet with him before the draft, in addition to the New York Jets doing the same.

Once in consideration for the number one overall pick as of last year, Nussmeier’s stock has dropped but he could still end up being the third quarterback off of the board. Garrett Nussmeier says he's set to meet with Jets, Rams, Colts. https://t.

That obviously worked out much better for Daniels than it did Nussmeier, and in a way implied that the school didn’t see him as a wunderkind. He’d have to wait until 2024 to get his chance to start, at which point he threw for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Worse yet, LSU is just 8-8 in conference play over the past two seasons with Nussmeier. He had an abdominal injury in 2025 and that made it all the easier for the team to keep him on the bench for the remainder of the year. Media can spin anything they want about his pro day and “finally being healthy” but the fact remains that Nussmeier’s resume is either very discouraging or a worrisome state of the current state of draft quarterbacks.
