The Boston Red Sox kick off their 2026 season on the road today against the Cincinnati Reds. But before they do, Red Sox beat writer Jen McCaffrey has three bold predictions for them on The Athletic (subscription required). Her first one is a popular one, which is that Roman Anthony will finish in the top three of AL MVP voting.
Others have already predicted that Anthony will win AL MVP this year, including Dave Portnoy and Eno Sarris. He's a trendy pick this year coming off his strong rookie season and historic World Baseball Classic performance . The 2026 Red Sox season begins in a few hours.
