Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady says he asked the National Football League about returning to play after he retired. The 48-year-old Brady officially retired in 2023 after a 23-year career with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning seven Super Bowl titles. He initially called it quits in 2022, only to announce 40 days later that he changed his mind so he could return for a final season.

In an interview with CNBC, Brady said he wanted to inquire about the NFL's policy on being an active player while serving as a minority owner of a team. “They don’t like that idea very much,” Brady said . “We explored a lot of different things, and I’m very happily retired.

” The league prohibits any active players from holding an ownership stake in a franchise, as they would have to divest their stake to be signed by any team.
