The pair spent five seasons together at PSG, forming one of Europe’s most feared attacks before tensions overshadowed their partnership. Their relationship deteriorated towards the end, with reports linking Mbappe to Neymar’s exit.

Today, they do not even follow each other on Instagram. However, that has not stopped the Frenchman of praising his former teammate. “I think [the Brazilian national team] can be for both [Neymar and Vinicius Jr. ]. The truth is that Vini needs to take another step in the National Team, but Neymar is Neymar,” he said to GE TV.

“Neymar is a great player. The World Cup is for the stars. And, in my book, Neymar is one of the biggest stars.

I don’t see a World Cup without Neymar. But, in the end, I can’t go against my former coach, who is Ancelotti, so we have to respect his decision. ” Despite their PSG fallout, Mbappe acknowledged Neymar’s influence and quality once more.
