Götze set for Frankfurt contract renewal, report says
Eintracht Frankfurt's Mario Goetze in action during the German Bundesliga soccer match between 1. FC Heidenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt at Voith-Arena. Harry Langer/dpa Former Germany forward Mario Götze is set for a contract extension at Eintracht Frankfurt, Kicker sports magazine reported on Thursday.
The report said that Götze is to receive a one-year contract with an option for another season at the Bundesliga club. His current deal expires on June 30. Götze, 33, who scored Germany's winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, has been at Frankfurt since 2022.
Partly due to injury he has only appeared in 18 matches this season. “Mario can provide support for young players and stand by them both on and off the pitch. He has the ability to play that final pass and bring calm to the game,” Kicker quoted Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche as saying.
