Emmanuel Pregnon as right guard: Seahawks biggest upgrade opportunity?
There's one major upgrade opportunity for the Seahawks that's barely being talked about after being obvious during the regular season.
There's one major Seattle Seahawks upgrade opportunity that's barely being talked about after being obvious during the regular season. The NFL Stock Exchange podcast mocked Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon to the Seahawks in the first round on Monday. In their collab mock draft stream with That Franchise Guy, he brought up a point that's going under-discussed this offseason.
Seattle could decide to address the interior offensive line over cornerback, safety, and running back in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. (Skip to 1:45:52 to see their exact analysis) Right guard was the rare weak point for the Seahawks in 2025, and they didn’t bring in anyone in free agency to compete with Anthony Bradford. Even before the team’s free agency’s departures, this was the clearest spot to look for an upgrade during the regular season.
The guard spots have been a problem for the franchise for years before, and last year’s drafting of Grey Zabel at No. 18 is sure to leave a good taste in their mouths. Seattle could instantly have one of the best offensive lines in the league with this pick.
With both Abraham Lucas and Charles Cross as the tackles locked up for the long-term, Zabel and Pregnon as young, promising guards, and the underrated Jalen Sundell at center, there’s not much of a weak point. The same ideas of positional value that pushed Grey Zabel down draft boards, which the NFL clearly didn’t share, are being used to keep Pregnon from the first round in mock drafts. Zabel’s pre-draft process was unforgettable winning Senior Bowl practice MVP, but Pregnon’s athletic testing and role on a championship contender team at Oregon show a high-floor, plug-and-play starter as well.
