And there's one stat that circulated on social media on Wednesday that really helped drive home why the Cubs just signed PCA to a nine-figure contract extension. The stat? PCA made 19 five-star catches in 2025.

The next closest player in MLB, Wilyer Abreu, made 9. MORE: Mike Trout, Tiger Woods, and Superman without his cape He had more than double of the next closest dude. That's absurd.

A five-star catch is one that Statcast deems has less than a 20% chance to be caught, based on historical batted ball and fielding data. Crow-Armstrong, as some might remember, actually caught one fly ball last season that had a 0% catch probability. That means every batted ball like that since Statcast started keeping track had never been caught, until Crow-Armstrong did it.
